Brad Smith is a very productive and buzy man: he has not only plans for Blind Melon in the future (starting with a show in Albuquerque, NM on Feb. 4th) and for Abandon Jalopy (‘Death And Joy’, the new AJ record, will be available later this year) but he has also opened a store on etsy.com: Brad sells shakers for percussion that he makes himself. “This shakers sound way better and have more soul than those plastic morrocas you are probably using” Brad says. I must say they look amazing and if Brad tells they sound amazing, you can trust him!

Brad Smith has recently posted a message on the Blind Melon Forum about the new Abandon Jalopy record.
The fans have been waiting for it for years but Brad has been busy producing bands and focusing on the Blind Melon reunion. It sounds like it’s time now for Brad to make the lastest steps and release the record! He actually plans on mastering the record in mid February, after the Blind Melon show in Albuquerque, NM.
It’s going to be called “Death And Joy”, will have 11 songs on it and will be available on iTunes first. Rogers Stevens and Christopher Thorn have participated to this album along with Rami Jaffee (keyboards), Jimmy Paxson (drums) and many others.
If you want to listen to a song that will probably be part of the record, watch the video below:

The tickets for the Blind Melon show in Albuquerque, NM are on sale now on tickets.com. The concert will take place at the showroom at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, February 4th 2011. Note that Candlebox will also be performing at the same event. Rogers Stevens informed Ryan of the Blind Melon Forum that the band is scheduled to play a 30-45 minute set for that event. There is a possibility it could be 1 hour long but definitely not as long as a regular Blind Melon concert.
