Jamie Shields covers Ever Had The Feeling

Auto Date Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Jamie Shields did a cool cover of Blind Melon’s Ever Had The Feeling. Jamie is featured on ‘Twenty Stories Below – The Blind Melon Tribute’ with an acoustic cover of Deserted. “That was a great accomplishment in my eyes, to be on the album” Jamie says, “Covering a song by your favorite band is a really scary thing when you know the band is going to hear it”
“Rogers reviewed each song on the album and he had something positive to say about each song, but also gave some constructive criticisms as well, which I think is well appreciated among musicians. I’m sure he’s a busy guy, who didn’t need to take the time to do that, but he did, and it meant a lot to me, and everyone else on the album, I’m sure.”

Those going to the vigil have probably met Jamie already. “I’m a long time vigil goer and I know the Vigil is an event that I will be going to for many years to come, for as long as I can. It’s like a family reunion each year. It’s a spiritual re-charge” she says.

Jamie has a new musical project: “One Idea I’m tossing around is making my own tribute album where I’m going to cover a few more melon songs and putting them up on MySpace”. Providing she gets the permission of Blind Melon, a CD version will be available for purchase and the money will go to the Vigil fund, in order to help Nel Hoon “A lot of people don’t realize how much work and money goes into the vigil. Nel cares so much about her melon heads and wants to make the experience the most comfortable it can be. She provides a porter-potty, a tent, and electricity. She puts a lot of effort into the vigil, so I want to be able to do something to contribute to it as well”
