For all my Melon friends: I spoke with Nel yesterday and she wanted me to share with y’all that Vernie is in the hospital, and asked that we send lots of positive energy to Vernie and keep her in our thoughts and prayers…
Lots of Melon love to all of you today!
Keeping Vernie in our prayers!!

“…Oh a flower you are to my land,
but I cannot deny the beauty
If I had a heart I would want it to be like Vernie’s
Oh what a heart that she has…”

Does anyone remember the old beemelon guestboard? probably no one does… so I’ve decided to replace that board by a link to the Blind Melon Forum.
There’s nothing to regret, nobody has posted on that old board since ages and the Blind Melon forum is the place to be for any melonhead. If you’re not a member yet, click the ‘Forum‘ link at the top of every page and join the Blind Melon Forum community.

Unified Theory just played their first gig in 9 years at the King King Hollywood tonight.
Talking about the Unified Theory days, Brad Smith said “I had so much fun with Chris, Christopher and Dave… maybe we should go back out, I don’t know…”. You’d better stay tuned!
Here is the setlist:
Breathe (Pink Floyd cover)
Instead Of Running
The Sun Will Come
Cessna
Fin
15 Hits
California
encore:
We Don’t Break
The show was broadcasted live on ustream so I guess it will be on youtube sooner or later.
Glen Graham was on the ustream chatroom before the show, he even contacted Christopher Thorn in order to fix the sound. How cool is that?

Chris Shinn, Christopher Thorn, Brad Smith and Dave Krusen will be playing together again on August 4th at King King Hollywood.
“…Can’t wait to see everyone in the same room again. It’s been a while since we shot the “15 hits” video. 2006? (The gear wasn’t even plugged in!). I’m So excited!…” Chris Shinn said.
Get your ticket here!
Earlier that same night, Travis T Warren will be playing the same venue.

Years before the tune showed up on the Guns N’ Roses 1991 album “Use Your Illusion I,” a little band in Lafayette was playing “Don’t Cry” in their set.
That little band, which was called Styff Kytten, happened to have a young Shannon Hoon as its lead singer.
Mike Kelsey (Styff Kytten guitarist) said he was careful to call the show Project 88 instead of a full-on Styff Kytten reunion. The musicians wanted to respect Hoon’s memory and include other musicians who were rocking stages more than 20 years ago. Kelsey revealed that a portion of Saturday’s show will have the guitarist playing solo, acoustic versions of Blind Melon songs. “It is the best way I know how to celebrate the spirit of Shannon,” he said.
Kelsey and fellow Styff Kitten members drummer Barry Koch and bassist Brian Bundy will reunite for “Project 88,” a semi-Styff Kytten reunion and celebration of the local rock scene circa 1988. The show will be at 9 p.m. Saturday July 3rd at Nick’s Riverside, 402 Brown St., West Lafayette, IN.

Thanks to Daniel for the tip
